Pulp Fiction
2004
Print on Paper
Banksy's stencil artwork pays homage to an iconic scene from Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction film, with a twist. Instead of guns, the characters are holding bananas. This clever juxtaposition challenges gun culture and reflects the artist's stance on this controversial topic.
London Transport painted over the original stencil in 2007, considering it violent and contributing to social decay. Banksy responded by portraying the characters in full-length banana suits, armed with real pistols. The artwork was later vandalised, prompting Banksy to create a memorial piece for the graffiti writer Ozone, who tragically lost their life on the tube.
The piece sold for £10,600 in 2012.
