Happy Chopper Crude Oil
2004
Print on Canvas
In ‘Happy Choppers’, Banksy focuses on the conflict between Israel and Palestine with his recurrent Apache helicopter motif. An oil painting of a peaceful rural landscape is interrupted by the war machine that is spray painted in Banksy’s signature style.
The piece was created in 2005 and originally sold as an unsigned screen print by POW* and later re-mixed for Banksy's Crude Oils exhibition in London.
* Pictures on Walls (POW) began life in 2003, partly by Banksy. It allowed artists to sell directly and not have to pay commission to a dealer. It helped many now-famous street artists make a living by producing high-quality original prints.
